Tissue and Microbial sampling
WIGG

As part of our Wilson Inlet Grower's Group we have funding for you to undertake tissue and microbial analysis.

For tissue testing we we be analysing Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Sulphur, Copper, Zinc, Magnesium, Manganese, Calcium, Sodium, Iron, Cobalt, Molybdenum, Selenium, Nitrate and Chloride.  This is the most efficient way to check up on your trace elements in your pasture.  This will be done at the CSBP labs.

For the microbial analysis we will be looking at the potential microbial activity in your soil.  In general, higher activity is linked to better soil health because of the wide variety of important soil processes performed by beneficial microbes.  To do this we are measuring the respiration (CO2 in your soil sample).  We have funding to analyse two samples of Microbe Activity Wise.  Click HERE to learn more.

You will need to take your owns samples for tissue and microbial analysis.  Sampling kits and instructions will be emailed out to you within one week of you confirming your details below.  The ideal time to take you samples is from now until about mid October.  It is best to post your samples on a Monday so they do not sit in the post over the weekend.  Prepaid envelopes will be provided.

For tissue testing we have funds to cover 2 of your paddocks.  For microbes we can cover 4 of your paddocks.  We recommend you target paddocks which are underperforming or are Hay paddocks.  Best yet, an underperforming hay paddock.  Another option is to compare a well performing paddock with an under performer.  Up to you.

Our program agronomist, Graham Mussell, will be interpreting your tissue tests at our next grower group meeting on 11 November 2022.  The results for your microbial analysis will be emailed to you directly by Microbiology Labs in Adelaide.

We will be sending the sampling kits out to you for each of these.  Can you please confirm which tests you wish to perform and your postal address below.  Please note that the costs for that analysis is about $275 so please ensure you follow through with the sampling and attend the session by Graham.  Thanks.
