We are proud to host the 2024 South Coast Biochar Forum in Denmark on 17 June 2024. We are fortunate to have Professor Stephen Joseph AM, whom many consider to be Australia's leading expert on biochar, as our key note speaker. This forum is for farmers and anyone who wants to learn how to use biochar effectively to suit their individual needs.
Professor Joseph literally wrote the book on biochar. Participants will be introduced to the 'Farmer's Guide to the production, use and application of biochar' Professor Joseph will be walking the audience through the guide with lots of opportunities for questions. We will also be hearing from local WA farmers and industry experts about their experience with biochar.
Murdoch University will be providing a brief update on the outcomes from a recent feasibility study that investigated making safe, effective and affordable biochar from Denmark's own green waste and food waste.

"Successful implementation of this Biochar Roadmap by 2030 has the potential to reduce Australia’s net carbon emissions by 10-15%, provide up to 20,000 permanent jobs (especially in regional and rural areas), improve soil health and agricultural productivity and return degraded lands to a higher value." - Nigel Murphy, Chairperson ANZBIG on implementing the Australian Biochar Industry Roadmap.
